Quotes from Christians past
This week, taste some morsels of biblical truth in the form of quotes from Christians past. Each one is short, concise and to the point. Consider what each one says. Roll it around in your mouth. Savor it. Absorb it.

Monday, Jan 6
You should not believe your conscience and your feelings more than the Word which the Lord…preaches to you.   – Martin Luther
Heavenly Father, empower me by your Spirit to trust your Word above all else, even above my own conscience and feelings. Amen.

Tuesday, Jan 7
A stiff apology is a second insult…The injured party does not want to be compensated because he has been wronged; he wants to be healed because he has been hurt. – GK Chesterton
Lord, when the times come for me to apologize, move me to do so with a desire to heal. Amen.

Wednesday, Jan 8
Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important. – CS Lewis
Dearest Jesus, Christianity is the greatest possession I have. Equip me to demonstrate this in my life. Amen.

Thursday, Jan 9
I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess. – Martin Luther
Lord God, season my faith in your Good News of forgiveness. Fill me with zeal to entrust all things to you. Amen.

Friday, Jan 10
The object of opening the mind, as of opening the mouth, is to shut it again on something solid.  - GK Chesterton
Holy Spirit, open my mind to your Word. Then move me to sink my teeth into its truths. Amen.

Saturday, Jan 11
I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else. – CS Lewis
Lord Jesus, you are the Way, the Truth and the Life. Use the light of your Gospel to help me see my life and this world as they really are. Amen.

Sunday, Jan 12
Pray, and let God worry. – Martin Luther
Lord God, forgive me for all the time I have worried. Carry those things which concern me. I trust in you alone. Amen.

2 Year Reading Plan of the Bible (NIV 1984)

The Today's Light Bible helps individuals and groups read and study the entire NIV Bible in just two years, breaking the readings down into manageable daily portions that can be completed in just 15 minutes or less. Brief devotions based on the text help readers understand and apply that day's Scripture selection to their lives.
